Job Description: Digital Media Legal Specialist
Position Overview:
The Digital Media Legal Specialist is responsible for providing legal support and guidance to the Communication and Media department, specifically focusing on digital media activities. This role requires expertise in digital media law, copyright law, and intellectual property rights. The Digital Media Legal Specialist will collaborate with internal teams, external stakeholders, and legal professionals to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Stay up-to-date with evolving digital media laws and regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate legal risks.
2. Advise the Communication and Media department on legal matters related to digital media activities, including content creation, distribution, licensing, and intellectual property rights.
3. Review and negotiate contracts and agreements pertaining to digital media initiatives, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and protecting the company's interests.
4. Conduct legal research and analysis to support the development of digital media strategies and initiatives.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including content creators, marketing, and technology teams, to ensure legal compliance throughout all stages of digital media projects.
6. Assist in handling intellectual property disputes, including copyright infringement claims, and coordinate with external legal counsel if required.
7. Participate in the development and implementation of internal policies and procedures related to digital media legal compliance.
8. Provide guidance on fair use, licensing, and permissions for the use of third-party content in digital media materials.
9. Assist in the preparation and delivery of training programs to enhance the organization's understanding of digital media legal issues.
10. Maintain accurate records and documentation of legal matters related to digital media activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
1. Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
2. A minimum of 3 years of experience practicing law in the field of digital media and intellectual property.
3. Strong knowledge of digital media law, copyright law, and intellectual property rights.
4. Demonstrated experience in reviewing and negotiating contracts and agreements.
5. Excellent analytical and research skills, with the ability to interpret and apply legal principles to complex situations.
6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey legal concepts in a clear and concise manner.
7. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
8. Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
9. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
10. Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
